Did you know Muratec MFPs support TLS?

But what is TLS, and why should you care? TLS (Transport Layer Security) and its predecessor, SSL (Secure Sockets Layer), are forms of encryption used to secure internet and network traffic. Have you ever noticed that many websites, like your online bank, start with https rather than http? This is because they are using TLS/SSL to encrypt and protect your communication.

Email servers support this same encryption, and customers that are scanning to email from their MFPs should ensure it is enabled on their device. SSL is supported by almost all modern MFPs, but this protocol is so dated, it is no longer considered secure. Even the US government has stated that it no longer approves the use of SSL for the protection of Federal information1, favoring instead the much stronger TLS. TLS is also the recommended option for customers needing to maintain HIPAA compliance.

Unfortunately not all MFPs support TLS encrypted communication, but at Muratec we do! Our MFX-3535 and MFX-3595 models support TLS out of the box. This is especially good news for your Office 365 customers, as Microsoft requires TLS encryption for its email service. Security has been a growing concern for all companies, and at Muratec, we make sure customers have the options they need to protect themselves.
